Vijf maanden na de geboorte van zijn zoon is het voor Mel Coplin nog onmogelijk om zijn kind een naam te geven. Pas als hij zijn eigen biologische ouders heeft ontmoet en hij ontdekt wie hij echt is, wil hij een naam aan het kind geven. Samen met zijn vrouw Nancy en de sociaal werkster Tina Kalb reist hij naar California om zijn biologische ouders te ontmoeten, maar het blijkt dat Mel door een administratiefout naar een verkeerd adres is gestuurd. De zoektocht wordt toch voortgezet, maar niet zonder enige complicaties. (Concorde Film)

As far as the actors go, this comedy is really solid, I can’t deny that. And what’s strange is that while the standard American comedy has a decreasing tendency as far as the quality goes, this one has an increasing one. It’s awfully boring at the beginning, but as soon as good old Alan Alda appears on the screen halfway through, he brings high-level dialogue humor with him.
