(Buena Vista International)

Engels My favorite golden Disney movie. Lots of personal or ethical dilemmas, adolescence in intense conditions, and above all a heartwarming love story. All of this against the backdrop of contact with nature, whether in the form of animals, trees, or spirits. But the biggest plus is the non-violent message that both sides make mistakes. And Menken's music always awakens that eager child in me again. ()

Engels The 33rd Disney Feature Film Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon? Pocahontas is a beautiful, almost spectacular spectacle with an almost operatic stylization. A proud modern Disney film, in which there is not a single extra window, and every seemingly unimportant joke between the animals is ideally complemented by the pathos of the main romance. The soundtrack is perfect, and the emotions are precise. An experience of a lifetime. Whenever I revisit the screening, I never regret it. ()

Engels With Pocahontas, it's obvious at first glance where James Cameron later drew from when writing the script for Avatar. The love story of two people from different worlds, who were not at first at all happy with each other, impresses with its cultural-ecological touch, which gives the film an extra-fairytale overlay. The more serious scenes are balanced by humorous moments with Meek the raccoon and Percy the dog, and spiced up with the pithy wisdom of Grandma Willow. A sweetly made fairy tale about tolerance of the new and the unknown, which surprises with a not-so-typical Disney ending. ()
