I had to wait until the last day of this year's Karlovy Vary festival to see one of the highlights, but it was worth it. This multi-genre revelation from the A24 studio took me by surprise. Sebastian Stan gives an immersive performance, for which he was awarded the Silver Bear in Berlin this year. After the recently released Substance, we have another film that delves into the theme of the duality of personality after a radical change in physical form, and this time it's really worth it. Cronenberg, Lynch and Kafka seem to have left a deep mark on Aaron Schimberg, and he gives it back to them on screen through A Different Man. An absorbing oddity and exactly the kind of film I want to come across at festivals as often as possible. [KVIFF 2024] ()
